The comedy cognoscenti have already made much of Noble's incredible improvisational abilities.

Asking audience members what they do for a living is an overworked stand-up cliché designed to spark a little interaction. To be able to weave lengthy flights of fancy from the dullest of occupations, as the crimson-haired Noble so effortlessly does, takes a rare skill indeed.

Almost the entire first half of his Edinburgh show is taken up with such unscripted shenanigans, and hugely entertaining it is, too.

But his shamelessly crowd-pleasing prepared material is no less impressive, a polished and imaginative routine packed full of pop culture references and delivered with an almost unequalled confidence.

There are always far too many stand-ups in Edinburgh, but Noble's exciting and spontaneous manner (which earned him a Perrier nomination last year) means he remains well ahead of the crowd. Recommended.
