Hannah George – Original Review

Review by Steve Bennett

Just 20 years old, Hannah George certainly has the confidence of youth; striding on to the stage like it’s the most natural place in the world for her to be.

Her observational material, however, is mostly based on obvious, Route One, premises: the size of men’s dicks, the inbreeding in her native Isle of Wight, that sort of thing. The jokes are solid enough, raising a decent smattering of chuckles rather than uncontrollable belly laughs, but they seem mechanical and generic, with little to really identify them as her own.

It can probably be chalked down to inexperience – of life, rather than the comedy circuit – as she’s yet to write this easier material on well-trodden topics out of her system.

But she’s certainly got time on her side; that and an easy, engaging performance style and an ear for a well-structured joke in a routine that packs them in with efficiency. That could very well be enough – watch this space.
