John Ryan – Original Review

Note: This review is from 2006

Review by Steve Bennett

John Ryan certainly has the common touch. Confident in his delivery, this irresistibly amiable act has nailed the art of commanding any audience, which ensures his witty material gets the best of receptions.

At its best, the set offers smart and inventive observations and Ryan's diligent in keeping abreast of the news, blowing a fresh breeze of topicality through his material.

He's not the sort of act with killer one-liners that lodge indelibly in the brain, rather he offers an unrelentingly pacy, broadly entertaining and spiritedly amusing romp through his subjects of choice.

The energy and personality has made him an in-demand compere, but given his own routine he's also a reliable act in his own right.
