Kevin Shepherd – Original Review

Review by Steve Bennett

Without offering anything particularly distinctive, Shepherd is a comic who's all-too-easily forgotten.

For someone who's been gigging, on and off, for six years, he's remarkably inconsistent in both his style and in the quality of his jokes, suggesting he's still struggling to find a persona that suits him.

The handful of Tim Vinesque puns that open the set are the highlights, but he also stoops to old staples ('85 per cent of all accidents happen within five miles of home so I moved') and an extendedroutine relying on the word 'fuck' that wouldn't be out-of-place on a laddish T-shirt.

He can be funny, and he cuts a confident and assured figure. But ultimately, it's quite a soulless act.
