Duncan Logan – Original Review

Note: This review is from 2004

Review by Steve Bennett

When Logan starts with the appeal: "Any dyslexics in?" the heart sinks. Some corny old anagram-based jokes would surely follow, or perhaps the observation that the condition is merely a euphemism for 'thick' among middle-class parents.

But it is so much more than this. Logan genuinely is dyslexic and talks interesting and amusingly about his experiences.

Elsewhere, this newbie's routine is more uneven: a fat people shagging routine conjures up images at least as bad as you'd imagine, while wheeling out talking greetings cards as props received mixed results.

However, the good start is ultimately squandered completely with his routine about stupid laws from around the world, the source for many a dodgy 'humour' book. Using a Have I Got News For You-style missing words game, he gamely tries to get the audience to care, but it all seems such hard work for so little reward.
