Orny Adams – Original Review

Review by Steve Bennett

Stand-up anoraks with the right sort of DVD player, may have already seen Orny Adams in the Jerry Seinfeld documentary Comedian. If you have, you might not be in any rush to see a man who comes across as such an arrogant, egomaniacal jerk - even by comedians' standards.

In the flesh, though, his high-octane performance packs a powerful punch, with an impressive command of the stage that many comics could learn a thing or two from.

But it's a good thing he does have such an explosive delivery, as his material can be fairly undistinguished. Surely by now we have heard enough advice from comics about what to do when sharks attack?

But it's all solid stuff, though, 100 per cent guaranteed to entertain. He claims to be one of the busiest comics on the US circuit, and that's easy to believe, since promoters are taking few risks booking him. But that's possibly because he is taking few risks himself.
