Bennett Arron – Original Review

Review by Steve Bennett

Bennett Arron, probably the only Welsh-Jewish comedian on the circuit has a very modest delivery, which can be both endearing – and his downfall. Happily, a good proportion of those jokes are the sort of sharp, inventive and unpredictable lines that can only be the product of a good writer who's able to pare ideas down to neat one-liners.

But, bizarrely, these sit beside some real clunkers that elicit nothing more than dull groans. And with Arron's inscrutable facade, it's hard to tell if he meant them to be ironically corny or whether he's as proud of these as he is the genuinely good gags in his arsenal. You suspect the former, but you can never quite be sure
