Ubersausage: Uberworld

Note: This review is from 2000

Review by Steve Bennett

When they hit the mark, this ridiculously-named sketch group are as funny as they come.

Sadly, though, this show is just too inconsistent, with many routines falling well short of the target.

Starting with some bad boy band dancing which is hardly original the energetic team quickly hit their stride with a number of great pieces.

Writers often find it hard to produce punchlines to end sketches, but this frequently proves to be Uberworld's forte, with some great gags to get them off stage.

Sometimes, however, the body of the routines seem sluggish, and the show as a whole also flags in the middle.

So while there are enough laughs to make this enjoyable team worth seeing, there are still too many lacklustre skits to make it stand out from the crowd.

Given another year to iron out some of the weaker material, the 2001 Edinburgh show should be something special.
