Blagging for it...

Comic begs for free food – and gets it

comedyThey say if you don’t ask, you don’t get.

Which may be why comic John Hastings brazenly launched a bid to blag some free food while in Melbourne the comedy festival.

And it worked.

Hastings, who is performing in the Best Of The Edinburgh Fest show down under, sent a message to popular vegan fast food chain Lord Of The Fries saying: ‘I am a bug deal in a way that is both true and not true. May I have free food?’

‘We can help!’ They emailed back, suggesting he contact the marketing department.

He promptly sent an email, but after 24 hours nothing had been done, and the impatient Canadian comedian tweeted again – to be told: ‘Marketing dept is slack. Which store suits you?’

And after an exchange of direct messages, a veritable feast of burgers fries, milkshake and snack packs arrived at his digs, which he shared with his pals from the UK comedy scene Carl Donnelly, Alfie Brown and Kwame Asante.

Chortle would like to point out that we are currently based not one block from the Lord Of The Fries store in Swanston Street. Hint, hint…
