Comedians venture into new territory

comedyChortle seldom concerns itself with the Dance section of the Edinburgh Fringe programme. But one performance by the hitherto unknown duo NightDanger caught our eye.

Promising to 'bring their notorious bland [sic?] of leg-rock, politics and motion-sensored emotional vicissitude to comedy’s mecca' Antonie and Phillippee are promising to ‘do for dance what Richard Gadd has done for comedy.'

Closer inspection of the taut, rippling physiques of these danseurs suggests that NightDanger are the alter-egos of Phil Nichol and Tony Law, no strangers to interpretive dance in their off-the-wall stand-up shows.

'We're doing a benefit for the NightDanger movement training centre, which is a training centre Antonie and Phillippee run for street kids' Nichol told the On The Mic podcast.

'We're trying to raise money because the council is putting refugees into empty flats above the training centre and we're very upset, so we're raising money to try and take the government to court. We've got to stop this madness!'

The pair are appearing in Dance Hard at the Stand Comedy Club on August 14.
