Multi-million-pound refit for The Bedford pub

The home of London’s long-running Banana Cabaret is to undergo a multi-million-pound refit this summer.

The Bedford pub in Balham will be closed as the Three Cheers Pub Company – which acquired the lease last May – undertakes the work. It has committed to keep comedy and music events on site.

The refurbishment also means the annual Balham Comedy Festival has been severely curtailed. Rather than a full week of programming this year’s ‘pint-sized’ event includes just  two special events: –  Al Murray on Friday April 27 and Rich Hall on Sunday April 29 – plus two ‘best of Banana Cabaret’ shows in the usual Friday and Saturday slots, featuring a return appearance of Joe Pasquale at the festival.

Tickets go on sale on Thursday.
