Kevin Hart to become an animated character

TV pilot based on his childhood

Kevin Hart is set to be turned into an animated character for a new American TV show.

Lil Kev will be based on the exploits of the 12-year-old Hart, growing up in the crime-riddled inner-city of North Philadelphia.

The comedian will be providing a voice on the pilot episode alongside Wanda Sykes, Keith Robertson, Gerald ‘Slink’ Johnson and Deon Cole.

‘It’s About Kevin Hart’s experiences growing up and how his relationship with his mother and his community led to his optimistic, positive outlook despite some of the challenges and circumstances that he grew up with,’ Michael Thorn, entertainment president at the Fox network, told the Deadline website.

Other characters will include Hart’s drug-addicted father, pessimistic older brother, ex-con uncle and a smartass talking dog.

Fox is looking to find new animations to add to its long-running successes The Simpsons, Family Guy and Bob’s Burgers.

It also has a pilot in the works from Amy Poehler.

Lil Kev will be written by Michael Price, who has previously worked on The Simpsons, and Matt Claybrooks, whose credits include Everybody Hates Chris – another comedy based on the childhood antics of a comedian.
