Last-minute stand-in at Slapstick festival

Jason Donovan is to appear at this month’s Slapstick festival of vintage comedy.

The former pop heartthrob is to introduce a screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show after original host Christopher Biggins pulled out.

Donovan played the lead role of Frank N Furter in the cult musical’s 25th anniversary tour and will be  judging a competition for the best-dressed attendees at the screening.

Chris Daniels, director of the Bristol festival, said: ‘We are thrilled beyond words that Jason Donovan is joining us. 

‘We are sorry, of course, that Christopher can no longer be part of our 14^th annual festival but who would ever have imagined that we’d be able to persuade such an internationally known and loved star to come in his place?’

An ‘unforeseen last-minute clash of commitments’ was blamed for Biggins dropping out of the event on January 27.
