Jason Donovan replaces Christopher Biggins

Last-minute stand-in at Slapstick festival

Jason Donovan is to appear at this month’s Slapstick festival of vintage comedy.

The former pop heartthrob is to introduce a screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show after original host Christopher Biggins pulled out.

Donovan played the lead role of Frank N Furter in the cult musical’s 25th anniversary tour and will be  judging a competition for the best-dressed attendees at the screening.

Chris Daniels, director of the Bristol festival, said: ‘We are thrilled beyond words that Jason Donovan is joining us.

‘We are sorry, of course, that Christopher can no longer be part of our 14th annual festival but who would ever have imagined that we’d be able to persuade such an internationally known and loved star to come in his place?’

An ‘unforeseen last-minute clash of commitments’ was blamed for Biggins dropping out of the event on January 27.

Slapstick runs from January 25 to 28.  Website.
