Iannucci’s satire scooped four awards

Armando Iannucci’s The Death Of Stalin won four accolades at the British Independent Film Awards last night

Simon Russell Beale won best supporting actor for his role as secret police chief Lavrentiy Beria,

While the film also won the prize for best casting, best make-up and hair design and best production design.

Get Out, the satirical horror film written and directed by  comedian Jordan Peele was named best international independent film.

But the gay romance God’s Own Country was the big winner, scooping best British independent film, best actor for Josh O’Connor, and best debut screenwiter for Francis Lee, who also directed the movie.
