Jennifer Saunders stage return comes to cinemas

West End show to be beamed to big screens

Jennifer Saunders’ return to the West End stage for the first time in more than 20  years is to be beamed into cinemas.

The new production of Oscar Wilde’s Lady Windermere’s Fan – directed by Kathy Burke – will be shown on big screens across UK and Ireland on March 20 next year.

Saunders plays the Duchess of Berwick in a cast that also includes Porridge’s  Kevin Bishop as  Lord Darlington and Grandma’s House star Samantha Spiro as Mrs Erlynne.

The comedy, which was first performed in 1892, is about an aristocratic woman who suspects her husband is having an affair. The title role has not yet been cast

Lady Windermere’s Fan is part of a year-long season of Oscar Wilde plays at the Vaudeville  Theatre. The first, A Woman Of No Importance, starring Eve Best. Anne Reid and Eleanor Bron, will be broadcast live to more than 370 cinemas on November 2.
