Who will save the sitcom?

New event with writers Marks & Gran

Comedy writers Laurence Marks and Maurice Gran are to discuss the future of sitcom at an event in London next month.

Their interview is provocatively titled: ‘Who will save the sitcom’ and starts from the premise that the genre is under threat.

The Writers’ Guild of Great Britain, which is staging the event, said: ‘With shrinking budgets, public service TV under threat and continued risk-averse programming, it’s never been harder to pitch new sitcoms.’

Marks and Gran’s track record includes Birds of a Feather, Goodnight Sweetheart, The New Statesman, Shine On Harvey Moon.

James Cary, who wrote Bluestone 42, will be in conversation with the pair at The Museum of Comedy on Monday May 22. Tickets are available here.
