Comic to go wild in the aisles

Joel Dommett has achieved the pinnacle of stand-up achievement. He’s going to appear on Supermarket Sweep.

The comic has today been announced as one of the famous faces taking part in six celebrity versions of the gameshow, which is moving to a daytime slot on ITV.

Rylan Clark-Neal will return as host, having stepped into the late Dale Winton’s shoes when the 1990s series was revived for ITV2 last year.

Dommett will be paired with Denise Van Outen in the show, answering questions to build up the time they get to perform a trolley-dash around a mock supermarket.

Other celebrities will include Birds Of A Feather actor, Lesley Joseph and Linda Robson, Spandau Ballet’s Martin Kemp and his DJ son Roman; football stars Harry Redknapp, Paul Merson, John Barnes and David Seaman; and several reality TV shows.

The main series, co-hosted  by Jennie McAlpine, will air stripped across weekdays, to be followed by six Celebrity specials airing later in the year.

• Dommett will also be co-hosting a three-part ITV special looking at past performances at the V Festival this summer, alongside Maya Jama.
