‘I’m totally thrilled'

Olivia Colman and Griff Rhys Jones have been recognised in the Queen’s Birthday Honours.

The former Peep Show star Colman receives a CBE, while Rhys Jones has been appointed an OBE.

Colman said she it was ‘such an honour’ to be recognised, saying: ‘I’m totally thrilled, delighted and humbled to be in the company of these incredible people, most of whom have been nowhere near as visible as I have, but should be’.

Her honour –  under her real name, Sarah Sinclair  –  comes just months after she scooped an Oscar for playing Queen Anne in The Favourite. She is about to play the current Queen in The Crown for Netflix.

Rhys Jones, who shot to fame on comedies Not the Nine O'Clock News and Alas Smith And Jones, receives his award for services to the National Civic Society Movement, charity and entertainment.

Other stars getting honours include a knighthood for actor Simon Russell Beale, and OBEs for Bar Grylls, Alfie Boe, Elvis Costello and Feargal Sharkey and an MBE for historian Dan Snow.
