Hi-de-Hi! stars pulls out of Calendar Girls tour

Hi-de-Hi! star Ruth Madoc has been rushed to hospital after breaking her hip in a fall.

The 75-year-old has now been forced to pull out of the Calendar Girls stage tour because of her  injuries.

In a statement, producers said: ‘The producers, cast and crew of Calendar Girls the Musical wish her a speedy recovery and look forward to welcoming her back very soon.’

Madoc appears in the show – written by Take That’s Gary Barlow and writer Tim Firth – alongside Fern Britton and Denise Welch.

Currently playing at Dublin’s Bord Gais Energy Theatre, it tells the true story of the naked Women’s Institute calendar of 1998, which was subsequently also made into a film.

Madoc has said she is comfortable being naked after a long career in the theatre, saying" ‘I might be old, but in the days of The Black and White Minstrel Show, we were doing two shows a day, would have 16 costume changes on the side of the stage, and all that I had on is a G-string and a pair of fishnet tights.’
