Anti-feminist sentenced for 'despicable' attack on tributes to murdered comedian

200 hours community service for vandal who desecrated memorial to Eurydice Dixon

The unrepentant 'anti-feminist' who defaced the memorial to murdered Australian comedian Eurydice Dixon has been sentenced to 200 hours of community service.

Andrew Nolch, 29, had already admitted committing criminal damage for painting an 80ft penis onto the grass in the Melbourne park where the 22-year-old was raped and killed.

Last week he was ordered to cover the £10,000 cost of cleaning up the site where hundreds of mourners had left floral tributes after Dixon was murdered making her way home for a gig in June.

Passing sentence, magistrate Olivia Trumble described his actions as 'despicable'.

According to local reports, Nolch told journalists outside court that he wanted 'to say sorry to Eurydice Dixon and her family'. But when pressed about why he wanted to apologise, he answered 'no comment'.

Nolch, who once dabbled in stand-up himself, said he was making 'a statement for men’s rights.

A 19-year-old man has been charged with Dixon’s rape and murder.
