Comedy Central picks up Amusical

TV version of the show in which comics sing hits from the musicals

Comedy Central is to pilot a TV version of live comedy hit Amusical – in which comedians perform songs from the musicals.

The 22-minute pilot will be filmed at Hackney Empire in front of a live studio audience in September, and will air later this year on Comedy Central UK.

Confirmed comedians so far include Frank Skinner and London Hughes, while the hosts of the stage version, Kiri Pritchard-McLean and Jayde Adams, will front the TV version alongside with musical director Dave Cribb.

Comedy Central’s Louise Holmes said: ‘I fell in love with Amusical as a stage show at Edinburgh last year and am so thrilled that we’re able to bring it to the screen for the first time.

‘With two of comedy’s most dazzling leading ladies, Kiri and Jayde, at the helm, plus a stellar line up of guest comedians brave enough to be taken out of their comfort zones as they sing their hearts out, Amusical promises to be a gloriously entertaining treat of a show.’
