About a driving instructor with supernatural powers

Australian comedian Claudia O’Doherty and The Last Man on Earth star Will Forte have joined the cast of Extra Ordinary, a supernatural comedy film starring stand-up Maeve Higgins.

Shooting has just begun on the movie in which Higgins plays a sweet but lonely driving instructor called Rose who has the ability to communicate with spirits.

She has a love/hate relationship with her gifts, and ignores her neighbours’ requests to investigate ghouls or the headless horsemen scaring cows.

The plot involves a widower  who seeks her help when he’s  haunted by his nagging ex-wife, and an ageing rock star who thinks virgin sacrifice will give him new success.

Writer-directors Mike Ahern and Enda Loughman told Hollywood website Deadline: ‘We are delighted we have somehow convinced an incredible group of actors and funny people we really admire, along with an amazing crew and some random folk that we just wanted to meet, to join our fever dream and make this mysterious romantic oddball ghost story love comedy adventure film,.

‘The timely script obviously hit home as it shines a light on important, serious issues like that of haunted rubbish bins in rural Ireland.’

Barry Ward, who played Sawyer in Sky’s recent drama Britannia, is also in the cast as the widower, Martin.

O’Doherty has recently been seen on Netflix series Love, created by Judd Apatow, and was nominated for an Emmy as part of the writing team on Comedy Central’s Inside Amy Schumer.
