New Channel 4 show from 'Revolution' duo

The Revolution Will Be Televised's Jolyon Rubinstein and Heydon Prowse are to target criminals in a hidden camera show for Channel 4, Chortle can reveal.

Ministry of Justice is the working title for their entrapment sketches, set to air later this year. The series was previously known as Crime Time.

The hour-long show is made by Monkey Television, whose credits include Alan Carr's Grease Night and Jimmy Carr's A Comedy Roast, both for Channel 4.

The producer is Ben Spiteri, who was head writer on the E4 hidden camera show Bad Robots.

Rubenstein posted a photo of himself and Prowse in flak jackets and helmets on Instagram, adding:

'There’s a reason that shows like The Revolution Will Be Televised don’t often get commissioned. They are seriously fucking hard to make. So after a whole year of production we have wrapped our brand new TV series.

'Later this year we are back on your screens making you cringe behind your sofa and hopefully just occasionally laugh. Our teams is the hardest working in TV. Big up every single one of you. You know who you are. We are coming back...'

Proswe added: 'That’s a wrap #danger #action #TV #hardhitting.'

Ministry of Justice is the first show Rubinstein and Prowse have collaborated on for a mainstream broadcaster outside of the BBC. Revolting, which aired for six episodes on BBC Two last year was a hybrid of improvised pranks and scripted sketches, which also featured Rachel Parris, Colin Hoult, Catriona Knox and Murder in Successville creator Tom Davis.

The Revolution Will Be Televised ran for three series on BBC Three between 2012 and 2015, winning a Bafta for best comedy in 2013 and attracting an audience of just over 500,000 when it began. However, a 2015 general election special mustered only 105,000 viewers.

Last month Rubenstein confirmed that he is also developing an as-yet-undisclosed project with Sharon Horgan and Rizzle Kicks rapper Jordan Stephens, tweeting that he was 'very excited' to be 'working on something very special with the queen of comedy @sharonhorgan. Watch this space ...'
