Monday March 19

CHELTENHAM: Surely more exciting for the town than last week’s Gold Cup – the Would I Lie To You? Team of David Mitchell, Lee Mack and Rob Brydon gather for four nights at the Everyman Theatre promising ‘chat, questions and generally messing around’. You’ll have a job getting tickets, though, as it’s long sold out. That’s no lie.

LONDON: American comic Sara Schaffer brings her brand of witty, good-natured storytelling to the Soho Theatre for the next couple of weeks. Little White Lies was performed in Edinburgh last summer - and here is our review.

LONDON: Maria Bamford - who has pioneered the exploration of her mental health issues through her stand-up and the Netflix series Lady Dynamite, performs her deeply personal show at Leicester Square Theatre from Wednesday to Friday. These show are - unsurprisingly - also sold out. Which means your only chance to see her is when she’s in conversation with Richard Herring at the recording of his Leicester Square Theatre Podcast tonight.

GLASGOW: You are spoiled for choice at the comedy festival tonight. At the King’s Theatre, John Moloney (pictured) presents his first of two consecutive nights featuring a bill of comedians aged over 50, being filmed in a bid to persuade TV producers to commission a stand-up showcase featuring older acts. (Tickets). Meanwhile, at the Citizens Theatre, Miles Jupp presents a benefit for the The Preshal Trust, which aims to help deprived people in Govan, with a bill that includes Fred MacAulay, Fern Brady, Mike Wozniak and Vladimir McTavish. And at QMU, it’s the final heat in this year’s Chortle Student Comedy Awards – with some surprisingly experienced acts as well as the promising newcomers.

LONDON: It’s the mammoth Teenage Cancer Trust fundraiser at the Royal Albert Hall tonight: Dara O Briain, Greg Davies and host Russell Howard are the biggest names, but the consistently strong bill also includes Desiree Burch,Mo Gilligan, Paul Chowdhry and Sara Pascoe.

Thursday March 22

LONDON: The Knock2Bag comedy nights continue to thrive. It can’t be because of their name, so it must be because of the unbeatable line-ups. Tonight is a case in point with Rich Wilson compering Mae Martin, Adam Hess, Angelos Epithemiou, Richard Gadd and more at the Moth Club in Hackney.

CARDIFF: There’s easily 75 years experience on stage of the Glee Club this weekend, courtesy of I, Danel Blake star Dave Johns and Canadian powerhouses Mike Wilmot and Tom Stade. You are in very safe hands…

Saturday March 24

LONDON: Those Knock2Bag dudes do it again. This time at Shoreditch venue Rich Mix where residents Cardinal Burns appear alongside the likes of Jayde Adams, Rose Matafeo, Simon Munnery and Tim Renkow.

GLASGOW: It’s the penultimate act of the city’s comedy festival tonight. And The Stand is hosting its annual showcase of visiting American acts, this year comprising Anthony DeVito, Jenny Zigrino and Matteo Lane, all hosted by emigree Dave Fulton.
