Comic signs Netflix deal

American comedian Norm Macdonald is to host his own talk show on Netflix.

The streaming giant has ordered ten episodes of Norm Macdonald Has A Show from the former Saturday Night Live cast member

Each episode will feature sidekick Adam Eget – who is also MacDonald’s sidekick on his hit podcast, which came to an end last year.. 

Netflix is pushing into the world of talk shows, having started by signing Chelsea Handler. It has recently launched shows by David Letterman and Joel McHale, with more shows from comics  Hasan Minhaj and Michelle Wolf in the pipeline.

Canadian Macdonald was the final stand-up act to appear on The Late Show with David Letterman in 2015. His special, Hitler’s Dog, Gossip and Trickery, was released on Netflix last year.

• Netflix is to release its first Korean stand-up comedy special next wee. Yoo Byungjae: Too Much Information will launch internationally on Friday. ‘I hope  this becomes a positive beginning for the stand-up comedy genre in Korea,’ he said. He will shoot a second special in Seoul next month, for release later in the year.
