Another serving of the Mash Report

BBC orders a third series

The Mash Report has been commissioned for a third series.

A continuity announcer broke the news as series two ended tonight, saying as the credits rolled: ‘And there will be a new series of the Mash Report later in the year.'

The satire is hosted by Nish Kumar, with Ellie Taylor, Steve N Allen and Rachel Parris as regulars and the likes of Geoff Norcott, Andrew Hunter Murray and Desiree Burch as occasional correspondents.

It has been attracting a modest 800,000 overnight viewers a week to BBC Two, but attracted good reviews and a strong online presence. A clip that included a cartoon of Piers Morgan with his head in Donald Trump’s arse amassed more than 27 million views on Facebook, largely due to Morgan’s outrage at the image.

Four episodes originally ran last year with a second batch of six – which had been commissioned from  Princess Productions as part of the initial deal – just ending. It is made with the creators of parody website The Daily Mash.
