She's developing a 'scripted project' for the service

Katherine Ryan is writing a comedy show for Netflix.

The stand-up says she is developing a ‘scripted project’ for the streaming service – but isn’t sure if it’ll be picked up.

‘You never know until you see it on the screen whether or not it's definitely going to be made or not, but it is being written,’ she said in an interview with Digital Spy.

Last year Netflix bought her stand-up special, only the second British-based comedian to have such a deal after Jimmy Carr.

And she added that she was determined to move into scripted comedy, saying: ‘If this one doesn't end up getting made, I'll write another one. Comedians just want to tell their story in any way that they can.’

It’s not clear if she would star in any show if it were to be commissioned, and she said: ‘I'm a pretty bad actress when I'm playing anyone but myself.’

Canadian-born Ryan was speaking to promote her role as a judge on Roast Battle, which starts on Comedy Central tonight.
