The king of late night is out of retirement – and Obama's his first guest

David Letterman is coming out of retirement for a new monthly talk show for Netflix.

The former king of late night will be hosting six hour-long episodes of My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman, starting next Friday.

His line-up of guests is George Clooney, Malala Yousafzai, Jay-Z, Tina Fey, Howard Stern and President Barack Obama.

Obama will be Letterman’s first guest and will be the former President’s first television talk show appearance since leaving office.

Each episode focusses on just one guest, with interviews that take place both inside and outside a studio.

Letterman, now 70 and boasting a long beard, hosted more than 6,000 TV talk shows on NBC and CBS from 1982 to 2015.
