Matt Berry reveals he is working on new episodes 'in my head'

Toast Of London is to return.

Matt Berry revealed the news on 6Music, confirming that he was working on writing something 'in his head'.

When he on the Stuart Maconie and Mark Radcliffe show, the star was asked: 'Will there be any more Toast of London?'

He replied: 'Yes, there will be' – but he could not put a timeframe on any return.

The last series aired on Channel 4 in December 2015.

Berry writes the series with Father Ted co-creator Arthur Mathews and the shows are helmed by Brass Eye director Michael Cumming for Objective Fiction.

The actor later clarified on Twitter: 'Toast will return in some form at some point. Neither Arthur or myself are writing anything for it at the moment.'

Berry also confirmed that his next project would be a period crime comedy about a group of Victorian detectives, written by Kevin Cecil and Andy Riley – as revealed by Chortle last month.

A pilot pastiched gritty Seventies detective dramas by transposing the action to the East End of London in the 1880s, notorious for the murders of Jack the Ripper. It co-starred Crazyhead's Susan Wokoma and  Freddie Fox from Paradise End.

Berry said they are awaiting a decision from ‘the money men’.
