Noel Fielding to play Alice Cooper

...on the day he met Salvador Dali

Noel Fielding is to play Alice Cooper in a film telling the true story of the rock star’s meeting with Salvador Dali.

David Suchet plays the surrealist master, Shelia Hancock his wife Gala and Paul Kaye as Cooper’s manager Shep Gordon.

Gordon arranged the real-life encounter at the hotel where the art couple lived, in which Cooper was asked to pose in a photo-shoot for one of the world’s first holograms while wearing a tiara made up of $2million of gems while brandishing a shish-kebabbed statuette of the Venus De Milo.

The story will be told in one of Sky Arts’ Urban Myths stories written by Roger Drew and Ed Dyson, the show is directed by Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard.

Jarvis Cocker and Richard Hawley will provide the musical score.

The film was announced at a Sky corporate event tonight, which also confirmed the When Bowie Met Bolan film – first reported by Chortle in - and featuring Luke Treadway and Jack Whitehall as the two rock gods.

It is written by Whitehall's regular collaborator Freddy Syborn and directed by A Touch of Cloth's Jim O'Hanlon,
