Murder On The Blackpool Express is killing it

Comedy is Gold's most popular show ever

The comedy whodunnit Murder On The Blackpool Express has become the highest-rated show ever to air on Gold.

Starring Johnny Vegas and Sian Gibson, the two-hour special attracted  270,000 viewers on its first airing on November 11.

But consolidated figures counting catch-up and on-demand viewing has brought that figure up to 1.72 million.

The story follows Terry, a Blackpool coach driver, and tour guide Gemma who become caught up in a deadly conspiracy when the trip's passengers start mysteriously dying one by one.

It was written by stand-up Jason Cook and boasted a star-studded cast including Nigel Havers, Griff Rhys Jones, Kimberley Nixon and Kevin Eldon.
