BBC celebrates the world of stand-up

International showcase for the World Service

Britain’s international comedy scene is to be celebrated in a special World Service programme to be broadcast around the globe. 

The station is dedicating the New Year’s Eve edition of its regu;ar Arts Hour programme to a stand-up show, featuring specially recorded sets from raft of UK-based comedians.

It will be hosted by Malawian Britain's Got Talent finalist Daliso Chaponda with acts including  Luisa Omielan, whose heritage is Polish.

Also on the bill are Japanse comic Yuriko Kotani, a former BBC Radio New Comedy Award winner, Romania’s Radu Isac, India’s Sindhu Vee, Kenya’s Njambi McGrath and Orlando Baxter, a black American, and US-based, comic who has performed around the world.

The Arts Hour International New Year Comedy Celebration is to be recorded in front of an audience at the BBC Radio Theatre in Broadcasting House in Central London on December 13. Free audience tickets are available here.
