All-star cast for Stephen Mangan's new sitcom

Channel 4 reveals who'll be appearing in Hangs Ups

Richard E. Grant, Jessica Hynes, David Tennant and Katherine Parkinson have joined the cast of Stephen Mangan’s new comedy Hang-Ups.

The comic actor co-wrote the series, in which he plays a therapist trying to keep his unconventional life, and patients, from falling apart.

And Channel 4 has now announced the full cast as filming on the six half-hour episodes wraps.

The series, which will air next year, also includes acting legend Charles Dance, comedian Lolly Adefope, Friday Night Dinner’s Paul Ritter  Green Wing’s Karl Theobald, Miranda’s Sarah Hadland and Celia Imrie from The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel

Also confirmed to appear are Arsher Ali (Line Of Duty),  Tolu Ogunmefun (Drifters), Conleth Hill (Game of Thrones), John Macmillan (Chewing Gum) and Harry Lloyd (Manhattan).

Episodes star Mangan, who co-wrote the show with director Robert Delamere, plays Dr. Richard Pitt, who conducts ‘unpredictable, discomfiting and hilarious’ quick-fire sessions with his patients through a webcam.

He said: ‘People are complex and complicated and they lead messy, knotty lives. We’ve tried to put some of that all-too-familiar turmoil onscreen and the result, I think, is chaotic, glorious and disturbing.'

Hang Ups is based on the Emmy-nominated series Web Therapy starring and co-created by Lisa Kudrow.

Fiona McDermott, Channel 4’s head of comedy has called it ‘a brilliantly farcical show that is, at heart, a family sitcom’
