Malcolm Hardee nominations announced

Double for Elvis Dead creator

The nominees for the  Malcolm Hardee Comedy Awards have been announced.

Rob Kemp, the musical comedian behind The Elvis Dead show, and  absurdist clown Mark Dean Quinn have both been nominated in two categories.

Up for the award for comic originality are Terry Alderton, Rob Kemp, Elf Lyons and Mark Dean Quinn

Up for the Cunning Stunt award are

  • Damian Kingsley for handing out flyers while wearing a security guard’s jacket on the basis that punters are more likely to take flyers from a security guard rather than a normal flyer.
  • Martha McBrier for telling blogger and Malcolm Hardee  awards producer John Fleming that the complaint about her causing offence to indigenous Australians by posing with a didgeridoo was just a publicity stunt, when it was actually  genuine.
  • Mark Dean Quinn for  attaching stars and quotes from other shows on his own flyers.

And up for the  Malcolm Hardee ‘Act Most Likely To Make A Million Quid Award’ are Rob Kemp and Irish comic Al Porter, who has been nominated for this accolade for three consecutive years.

Winners are announced at an awards show which kicks off at  Laughing Horse @ The Counting House at 11pm on Friday.
