Live comedy in the week ahead

The week ahead in live comedy.

Monday August 21

LONDON: Unmissable. Tim Heidecker – best known as being half of the cult double act Tim & Eric – is making his UK debut alongside  Neil Hamburger, the brilliantly pitiful washed-up entertainer created by  Gregg Turkington. The pair collaborate on the  spoof film review series On Cinema At The Cinema on Adult Swim – and both are titans of the American alternative comedy scene. Their run extends to September 2.

Tuesday August 22

LONDON: Charming Australian raconteur Matt Okine, a former Edinburgh Comedy Award best newcomer nominee, starts a five-night run at the Soho Theatre. He’s back in the comedy world after a stint as a breakfast DJ limited his options for live work. Meanwhile, his comedy series The Other Guy, has just dropped on streaming service Stan down under. Here’s the trailer:

Wednesday 23 August

EDINBURGH: John Bishop, Jason Byrne, Aisling Bea, Danny Bhoy, Tommy Tiernan, Abandoman, Charlie Baker  and Suzi Ruffell will all be taking part in the Underbelly’s Big Brain Benefit, raising money for The Brain Tumour Charity. 11.45pm

Friday 25 August

BUDE: Cornwall's first three-day comedy festival, takes place over the bank holiday weekend at the Wyldes, with Bill Bailey the first headliner on the first night.
