New series for Francesco De Carlo

Italian comedian Francesco De Carlo is to make a TV series about his move to the UK in the wake of Brexit.

Rai3, a channel of the state broadcaster, has commissioned a four-part series from the stand-up, who is now based in London.

With the working title Diary Of An Italian Comedian, the partly-scripted documentary series will combine observational comedy and Francesco’s real experiences.

In it, he promises to ‘sift through the idiosyncrasies of Italian and British society: our differences and commonality, food, alcohol, religion, sex, art, music, theatre and everything that will strike him from his new outsider’s perspective.’ He will also interview journalists, politicians, activists and citizens, to try to understand Brexit.

Filming will take place in the UK and Italy by by Verve Media Company,  an independent production company based in Italy and Spain .

De Carlo, a former political scientist and European Parliament press officer, is also appearing at the Edinburgh Fringe next month with his Brexit-inspired stand-up show Comfort Zone.

Since moving to the UK, De Carlo has appeared on TV in Paul Hollywood’s Big Continental Road Trip and Unspun With Matt Forde, and supported Tommy Tiernan on tour.
