Safeword gets a US remake

Kevin Hart among those who'll squirm on the new MTV version

ITV2 gameshow Safe Word is to be remade for the US.

Guests for the new version, which will air on MTV, include Kevin Hart, Damien Dante Wayans, Chris ‘Ludacris’ Bridges and  Marlon Wayans.

As with the British original, the guest stars are paired with comics for a series of embarrassing social media games ‘in the spirit of a friendly comedy roast’. But the celebrities can always stop the pain by using their safe word.

Starting in 2015, the ITV2 show has run for two series,  hosted by Rick Edwards and with comics David Morgan and Katherine Ryan as team captains.

A rotating line-up of comedians will appear on the MTV show, including Carly Aquilino, Sam Jay, Ricky Velez, Leonard Ouzts, Taylor Tomlinson, Akaash Singh, Matt Pavich and Sherry Cola.

While other celebrities set to endure the roasting will include Kelly Rowland, Nelly and Amber Rose

It is due to launch Stateside at 11.30pm on July 13.
