Lefty Scum go on tour

Socialist performers unite

Three socialist comedy and music acts are combining for a UK tour under the title Lefty Scum.

Stand-up Josie Long, musical duo Jonny And The Baptists and activist singer-songwriter Grace Petrie are combining fro the ten-date tour.

Promoters claim, perhaps hopefully, that the tour welcomes audiences of all political persuasion but add: ‘If you are a Tory, they will most probably take the piss out of you.’

As well as the usual glowing reviews – which all come from The Guardian – publicity for the tour also includes negative criticism – which all comes from the Telegraph.

The Tory-supporting paper asked of Long: ‘Can she please stop grumbling?’; said Jonny And The Baptists were ‘distasteful’ and that Petrie was ‘whining’.

Their tour kicks off in Margate on October 29  and ends in Liverpool on November 9. Click here for full schedule.

The show has echoes of  Red Wedge, the 1987 comedy tour designed to muster support for Labour in outsing Margaret Thatcher which featured Lenny Henry, Ben Elton, Robbie Coltrane, Craig Charles, Phill Jupitus and Harry Enfield.
