Comedies up for digital awards

Broadcast nominees announced

Taskmaster, Jamali Maddix and, of course, Fleabag are among the nominees for leading TV industry awards announced today.

They have made the shortlists in the Broadcast Digital Awards, run by the industry magazine and celebrating programmes outside of terrestrial broadcasting, including online.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s BBC Three programme is in the running for best scripted programme alongside Alan Partridge's Scissored Isle, Chewing Gum and This Country – as well as the dramas Murdered By My Father, The Tunnel: Sabotage

And Taskmaster sits alongside Celebrity Juice, Murder In Successville, Unspun With Matt Forde, Love Island and Release The Hounds for best entertainment programme.

Hate Thy Neighbour, the Viceland show in which former Chortle Student Comedy Award-winner Maddix visited extremists spreading hate across the world is shortlisted for best popular factual show. The broad category spans everything from Portrait Artist of the Year, co-hosted by Frank Skinner, to reality show Celebs Go Dating.

Comedies #HoodDocumentary and Bad Snappers are up for best online short, alongside Fright Bites, Frightbusters, Like Me, Refugee

Elsewhere, Julian Clary’s Sky Arts film Passions, paying tribute to Noel Coward, is up for best documentary. And Dave’s comic storytelling show Crackanory is nominated under the Best Content Partnership category for its Audible sponsorship.

The results will be announced on July 5
