Who's in Inside No 9 series 4?

Guest stars revealed as shooting begins

The guest stars have been revealed for the fourth series of Inside No. 9, as shooting begins on the six new episodes.

Among those making appearances are Zoë Wanamaker, Emilia Fox, Nigel Planer Kevin Eldon and Peter Kay’s Car Share co-star Sian Gibson.

In a statement, creators Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith said: ‘We feel ridiculously privileged to find ourselves at Pinewood Studios filming a new set of episodes (though sadly not in Studio 9).

‘We are getting through more actors than Midsomer Murders and it's a dream to work with the country's finest once again. As ever we've attempted a real mix of styles and genres, including one really brilliant episode and one really disappointing one; we look forward to viewers debating which is which.’

The first image from the series has also been released – above – showing the pair in overalls... which could suggest anything from decorating to cleaning up a crime scene.

Other guest stars include Kidulthood’s Noel Clarke, Monica Dolan, who plays Tracey Pritchard in W1A, Nick Moran from Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels; Rory Kinnear (Count Arthur Strong); Bill Paterson (Fleabag); Helen Monks (Raised by Wolves) and Tanya Franks (Chewing Gum).

And the names announced today are completed by Kenneth Cranham (Maleficent); Fenella Woolgar (War & Peace); Phoebe Sparrow (Downton Abbey); Marcia Warren (Sherlock); Hattie Morahan (Outnumbered); Nicola Walker (Unforgotten); Miranda Hennessy (Pramface); Weruche Opia (Bad Education) and David Calder (The Moonstone)

Shane Allen, the BBC’s controller of comedy commissioning, who ordered the new series for BBC Two, said: ‘Reece and Steve continue to dazzle and amaze with their ever inventive powers of story-telling.

‘Their terrific writing has lured the cream of British acting talent to serve up six completely new and sublimely conceived treats. They transcend the parameters of genre limitations with this widely admired series.’

Inside No. 9 will be executive produced by Jon Plowman with Adam Tandy as producer for BBC Studios. Jim O'Hanlon joins the directing team for the first time, alongside Graeme Harper and David Kerr.
