Revealed: Dave Johns' next movie

Shooting starts on Two Graves next week

Dave Johns has signed up for his first movie following the success of I, Daniel Blake.

The comedian has signed up for Two Graves, a ‘neo-noir’ thriller set in the North East of England.

It revolves around a  middle-class doctor of pathology, to be played by Mona Lisa star Cathy Tyson, who captures and tortures the young man she believes murdered her son.

Johns plays a shipyard nightwatchman, film industry website Screen Daily reports, while the cast also includes Katie Jarvis, who starred in the 2009 indie filmFish Tank.

The movie is the feature directorial debut of Gary Young, the writer of the 2009 Michael Caine revenge movie Harry Brown.

Young, who also wrote Two Graves, said: ‘I am absolutely thrilled that we’ve put together such an amazing cast.

‘Cathy Tyson, Katie Jarvis and Dave Johns, are amazing actors from three of the most iconic British movies from the past 30 years, and it’s incredible, that in making my directorial debut, I managed to get all three of my first choices.’

Filming on Two Graves starts next Wednesday.

Since his critically lauded debut in I, Daniel Blake, Johns has also made two short films:  Me, The Elephant for Channel 4, about self-harm and depression, and Howay!, about mental health from the perspective of football obsession.
