To be hosted by Grant Stott

Broadcaster Grant Stott is joining BBC Radio Scotland to host a topical comedy quiz programme.

He is quitting Radio Forth after 27 years with the station, many of them in the afternoon slot, to join the BBC.

Stop The Press will run when Des Clarke-fronted satirical panel show, Breaking The News, takes a break in the summer. 

Stott will also present a new music show that will air on Sunday afternoons in the summer.

Jeff Zycinski, head of radio for BBC Scotland, says: ‘Grant has a terrific track record as a broadcaster who builds a strong connection with his audiences.

‘I’m delighted to welcome him on board to present the new shows we’ll be launching this summer. Grant will be a strong addition to our line-up of presenters.’

Stott previously presented the BBC children’s programme, Fully Booked, from Glasgow, and has also presented several sports and entertainment programmes on STV. 

He said: ‘I'm thrilled - and a little bit stunned - to be joining the BBC and the team at Radio Scotland. The variety and range of the programmes I'm going to be working on is really exciting and I can't wait to get started on this next chapter in my radio career.'

Stott appeared at last year’s Edinburgh Fringe with his anecdote show Tales from Behind the Mic.

Stop The Press will be made by Dabster Productions.
