The Inbetweeners could return

With new cast and writers, but the same 'brand'

The Inbetweeners could be returning – with a new cast and writers.

The production company that owns the rights to the comedy says The Inbetweeners is strong ‘brand’ that could be exploited.

Peter Langenberg, chief operating officer of Banijay, ‘the world's largest independent content creation group’, told trade magazine Broadcast he was looking to revamp the show.

But he admits that seven years after the final episode aired, the original core cast of Simon Bird, Joe Thomas, James Buckley and Blake Harrison would be too old to return.

‘It’s not feasible for the cast to reprise their roles at that stage of life, but the brand is so strong that I’m definitely interested in seeing if we could take a new spin on it,’ he said.

The show was originally made by Bwark, the independent production company set up by Inbetweeners creators Damon Beesley and Iain Morris.

But the company was sold to Zodiak Media in 2011 which merged with Banjay last year.
