Normally when celebrities batter photographers its during scuffles with intrusive paparazzi.

But Dara O Briain left one snapper with a sore head after bashing him on the head with a hurling ball – thanks to a freak shot at a photo-session.

The comic was taking part in a shoot at Lord’s to promote a forthcoming one-day cricket international between England and Ireland.

Lying on the floor several dozen yards away from O Briain, photographerJames Cheadle asked the Mock The Week host to lob the ball over his head to get the perfect picture.
