PETER KAY is to be a guest judge on the final of BBC One’s Let It Shine tonight. He will be standing in for Robbie Williams, who has pulled out due to illness. However, Williams will still perform on the show with his Take That bandmates Gary Barlow, Mark Owen and Howard Donald. The show airs at 6.45pm tonight.

PETE FIRMAN  and Ellie Taylor have joined the line-up for Let’s Sing And Dance For Comic Relief, performing Black Magic by Little Mix. Comedy-magician Firman said: ‘As a master of deception I've managed to hoodwink someone at the BBC into believing I can sing and dance.’

SCOTT REDMOND won the first heat of this year’s Chortle Student Comedy Award in Glasgow on Thursday night – performing half of his set as Elvis Presley. The 20-year-old, who is studying an MA in philosophy at Edinburgh, now goes forward the semi-finals to be held in London in May. The next heat is in St Andrews on Tuesday.

A PROGRAMME of  320 comedy shows has been announced for this year’s Brighton Fringe, including stand-up and magic from Jerry Sadowitz, Edinburgh best newcomer Scott Gibson, Colin Hoult as Anna Mann, musical duo Jonny & The Baptists and sketch group Beasts. Brighton Fringe runs from May 5 to June 4. Website.

MRS BROWN’s Boys star Brendan O’Carroll has reportedly asked if his sitcom family could make a cameo appearance on Benidorm. Star Sherrie Hewson told the Mirror that O’Carroll asked: ‘Couldn’t we all just come into the hotel and check in as a family? Even if you don’t see us again, just come in, check us all in, take no notice of us, just that scene, and then you don’t see them.’
