Angus Deayton's new presenting job

Great British Bake Off spin-off

Angus Deayton is to host Great British Bake Off spin-off Creme de la Creme.

The BBC Two show, for professional pastry chefs, is staying on the BBC despite the main show being poached by Channel 4.

Former Have I Got News For You presenter Deayton takes over from chef Tom Kerridge, who hosted the first series last year.

Kieran Smith, executive producer for Love Productions, said: ‘We're delighted Angus has taken up the baton to host the new series. His distinct humour and presenting style brings a fresh dynamic to the show.’

The show will return to BBC Two later this year.

Deayton was sacked from the topical panel show in 2002 after his private life was splashed over the tabloids. Since then he has presented the first two series of Would I Lie To You and acted in Nighty Night, Pramface, Waterloo Road and Benidorm. Last year, he revived Radio Active, the show that made his name, at the Edinburgh Fringe.
