Mark Dolan signs up for The Jump

Comic Mark Dolan has signed up to Channel 4’s winter sports reality show The Jump.

The programme returns next month despite fears for its future over the high number of injuries to its contestants.

Seven of this year’s celebrities withdrew hurt, including gymnast Beth Tweddle breaking her back. The only other comedian to have taken part, snowboarding enthusiast, Marcus Brigstocke tore a ligament in his leg during a bad fall in the first series in 2014 and couldn’t work for a year.

Dolan, who is is best known for presenting Channel 4’s hidden camera stunt show Balls of Steel from 2005 until 2008.  tweeted today: ‘This is happening. It was good knowing you all…’

And he told the Daily Mirror he said: ‘I'm delighted to be taking part, and by delighted, I mean absolutely bloody terrified.’

Channel 4 have not yet released the full line-up for the third series of The Jump, which takes place in the Austrian Alps next month.
