Now it's *Doctor* Henry Normal

Uni honours comedy producer

Top comedy producer Henry Normal has received an honorary doctorate from Nottingham Trent University.

He picked up his Doctor of Letters yesterday for his contribution to the arts, poetry, television and film.

Born and bred in Nottingham, Normal has recently returned to his life as a performance poet, after leaving Baby Cow the production company he set up with Steve Coogan in 1999.

He co-wrote The Royle Family, produced a string of TV hits including Alan Partridge, Gavin and Stacey and The Mighty Boosh and the four-time Oscar-nominated Philomena. He is also the patron of Nottingham’s UNESCO City of Literature team.

Picking up the accolade he said: ‘My dad would have been proud. They dressed me up like a Christmas decoration and I gave a little speech. I found it very moving.’
