New BBC show for Sue Perkins

Based on local newspaper headlines

Sue Perkins is piloting a new topical comedy show with a difference – all the news stories will be taken from local newspapers.

Comedians Phil Ellis and Guz Khan have been lined up for the initial episode of Hold The Front Page, which is being made for Radio 4.

The show will be recorded at the BBC Radio Theatre in Central London next week (see our free tickets page for details of how to be in the studio audience).

It is one of the new projects Perkins will be undertaking now she no longer has commitments to the Great British Bake Off. She and double-act partner Mel Giedroyc decided not to go to Channel 4, which poached the show from the BBC in a £75million deal.

She is also touring next year with Spectacles!, a live show based on her recent memoirs.
