Grimsby: Not that popular

Sacha Baron Cohen’s film is one of 2016's biggest flops

Sacha Baron Cohen’s film Grimsby has been named one of  the biggest box-office flops of the year.

In the action comedy, the Borat star plays an alcoholic slob living in the port town who reunites with his long-lost brother, now a top MI6 spy.

However, the film took just $3.3 million on its opening weekend in the States, $14 million less than Baron Cohen’s earlier release, 2012′s The Dictator.

When international sales are taken into account, the film grossed $28.7million – but it cost $35million to make.

It is the worst box office total of Baron Cohen’s career, according to wealth magazine Forbes, which compiled the list of flops.

Grimsby - known as The Brothers Grimsby in the US  was eighth on the list.

At No 7 was the  biographical war comedy Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, starring Tina Fey, which took $25million globally against a  $35million budget.

Also in the top ten were Pride And  Prejudice And Zombies, Popstar: Never Stop Stopping, and the No 1 flop Max Steel, which took just $4.4million on a $10million budget.
